  • United Kingdom to host 2035 Women’s World Cup as the only bidder
  • Other countries in CONCACAF region will possibly be joining the United States

The 2035 Women’s World Cup is being hosted by the United Kingdom after FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained the interest as the “one valid bid” for the tournament on April 3, 2025.

In March, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have made an announcement that they will be submitting a joint bid to host the finals. In addition, the men of England have won the World Cup for the first as well as the only time when the kingdom hosted the finals in the year 1966. However, it has never organised the women’s tournament.

In a statement, FA CEO Mark Bullingham said, “We are honored to be the sole bidder for the FIFA women’s World Cup 2035. Hosting the first FIFA World Cup since 1966 with our home nations partners will be very special. The hard work starts now, to put together the best possible bid by the end of the year.”

With the possibility of CONCACAF region’s other countries joining the US, the country is also self-assured to become the named host of the 2031 Women’s World Cup being the only bid.

FIFA President stated that the tournament shall rise from 32 teams to 48 for 2031 World Cup in time to match the men’s event. Adding to the statement, he said, “We received one bid for 2031 and one bid — one valid bid I should add — for 2035. The 2035 bid is from Europe, from the home nations. So, the path is there for the Women’s World Cup to be taking place in ‘31 and ‘35 in some great countries, in some great nations, to boost even more the women’s football movement.”
