Sofitel Dubai Downtown has promoted Amelia Mejia-Tagon and Yasmina Laloun to senior leadership roles, doubling down on its dedication to developing exceptional female leaders. These promotions are just the latest manifestation of the hotel's greater purpose to break down barriers and unlock more opportunities for women to become leaders. They also align with Accor's global Rise initiative, which battles gender balance, mentorship, and diversity throughout the hospitality industry.

Inspired by a culture of inclusive excellence, General Manager Mohamed Hawwam confirms that talent, ambition, and dedication, rather than age or gender, are the keys to success at Sofitel Dubai Downtown. With close to 20 years of experience in corporate strategy, sales, and events, Amelia has been designated as Director of Sales – Corporate & MICE. Throughout her career, she has gained a solid reputation for building client relationships, handling large-scale business alliances, and bringing innovative methods that drive growth. In her new position, she will lead the hotel's corporate sales team and streamline its strategy towards the ever-changing MICE segment.

At 28 years of age, Yasmina has been named Director of Marketing at Sofitel Dubai Downtown, becoming the youngest person to have ever taken up this role in the hotel's history. With almost a decade of global experience across four countries and three continents, she has established a strong track record for innovation in luxury branding, digital transformation, and immersive storytelling. Her leadership strategy has not only strengthened the hotel's brand presence but has also transformed the way guests engage and market their influence.

Looking back on her new appointment, Laloun commented "I enter this role with great humility to the mentors and leaders who have challenged, inspired, and empowered me every step of the way.
