Chinese electronics manufacturing giant and Apple vendor, Foxconn, has announced the appointment of Kathy Yang Chiu-Chin as its rotating chief executive officer. Her appointment will come in effect from Monday, making her the first woman to hold a significant position at Foxconn. Chou-chin is taking over the role from C C Lin.
"Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) has named Kathy Yang Chiu-chin its rotating Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, setting two major milestones in corporate governance leadership for the world's largest electronics manufacturing service provider," the company said.
Foxconn has implemented a rotating CEO model, through which the company appoints an executive from one of its six primary business segments to the post.
According to Liu, the rotational CEO model helps general managers with early exposure to group-level leadership responsibilities, which allows and enables them to hone the required skills for heading broader roles.
"Over time, this transitional system will cultivate a pool of leaders with proven expertise in both operational execution and organisational management," he said.
Chiu-chin was currently holding the position of Foxconn's global chief campus operation officer. In addition, she is the company’s chief logistics and trade compliance officer. Chou-chin also heads the role as chairperson and CEO of Foxconn's logistics solutions subsidiary, JUSDA
