For the very first time in its 44-year existence, the Guernsey International Business Association (GIBA) has for the first time ever installed women into its most senior leadership positions. Jo Peacegood is the new chair, becoming the first woman to be so installed, and Helen Wyatt is its new deputy chair.
Jo Peacegood, a former chair of the Guernsey Investment and Funds Association and past two-year deputy chair of GIBA, has signaled her intent to further cooperation, creativity, and maintenance of the island's reputation for high quality and excellence.
GIBA pointed out that Helen Wyatt, a corporate practice partner at Mourant Ozannes (Guernsey) LLP, contributes solid legal understanding along with a keen interest in financial services regulation to her position as deputy chair.
Paul Sykes, who has stepped down after two years as GIBA chair, will remain on the council. He expressed confidence in the new leadership, saying, “I’m thrilled that GIBA’s future is in the hands of two highly accomplished and experienced professionals like Jo and Helen. Their appointment as the first female leaders adds to the significance of this milestone.”
GIBA remains the voice of Guernsey's financial services industry, which provides over 7,500 professionals with employment, a significant portion of the island's largest sector by employment.
