Marika Conomos, a Greek Australian psychologist and the founder of UpLift AI, Australia’s first AI Co-Therapist model has received recognition at the Women Changing the World Global Awards 2025.
Recognized for her work in developing an AI hybrid platform boosting mental health care delivery, she won three awards, Health Tech Innovation, Health & Wellbeing, and Rising Star at the event held in London.
In a statement given to the media, Marika said, “To be recognised on a global stage for work that began in local clinics across Australia is deeply humbling.” She also added, “These awards aren’t just for me – they reflect the urgent need for change in mental health, and the belief that technology can be part of a more ethical, human future.”
Australia's first AI Co-Therapist model, UpLift AI, supports clinics, prolong patient care in between sessions, and reduce the administrative burden on practitioners.
Marika said that ethical considerations played a major role in the platform's creation, including privacy protections, open data usage guidelines, and inclusivity through multilingual assistance and culturally sensitive capabilities.
UpLift AI, which is now wrapping up its trial phase and is ready for launch, promises to automate a variety of administrative duties for clinicians, such as scheduling and billing, reducing burden by up to 40% and giving up time to concentrate on patient care.
Marika stated her vision for the next stage of her technology platform's development and collaborations, which will involve expanding into more allied health domains such as occupational therapy and speech therapy.
