In a recent announcement, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) revealed that it has welcomed Isha Ambani alongside Louise Bawden to its Board of Administration for the 2024-2028 Olympic cycle with an intent towards bringing business acumen as well as representation of the athlete to the highest levels organisation.
Both the appointments have been done under FIVB Constitution Article 2.4.1.5 that gives authority to the FIVB President to make selection up to four additional board members across distinct categories. This confirms a breadth of perspectives in addition to deepening the diversity and inclusivity of the board.
Additionally, Isha Ambani, a businesswoman and billionaire heiress in India, joins as the appointed member to the FIVB Board, representing the gender-in-minority category. Currently, Isha is a part of the executive leadership teams as a Member of the Board at numerous Reliance group i.e., Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Jio Financial Services Limited and Reliance Foundation (RF), Reliance Foundation Institution of Education and Research, and Dhirubhai Ambani International School.
Furthermore, Louise Bawden, an Australian volleyball and beach volleyball player, is a three-time Olympian as well as the President of the FIVB Athletes’ Commission. She was selected her fellow commission members for joining the FIVB Board. In addition, she has won gold for Asian Beach Volleyball Championships in Songkhla 2017, Hong Kong 2015 and Jinjiang 2014.
